Rockwood; Past and Present

The Past: Rockwood is a small town east of Guelph. It was originally known as Brotherstown and was founded in the early 1820's. Some of the first inhabitants of this area mined Limestone which was used to build mills. An example of such a mill can be found within the Rockwood Conservation Area. Once you get inside the park to complete this Adventure Lab you will also be shown examples of over 200 potholes. These potholes were created over 11,000 years ago by the Wisconsin Glacier as it retreated. The limestone cliffs also host many caves which you can explore as you walk through the awesome trails. As for the Present: Rockwood has hosted the annual GHAGAFAP event for the past 7 years. It is the longest running annual Geocaching event in Canada; running since 2002. This park is open year round and is enjoyed by those who love to camp, canoe/kayak, swim, hike and truly just enjoy history and nature. *There is a fee to enter Rockwood *Stages can be done in any order *Filming may occur at ruins
