Frickenhausen, als bedeutender Weinort, erhielt ab 1492 eine Befestigung, deren Ausbau sich über hundert Jahre hinzog. Begonnen wurde mit der Dorfmauer im Norden, beendet wurden die Maßnahmen im Süden auf der Mainseite gegen Ende des 16. Jhd. Der Mauerring in Höhe von 5 Metern enthielt neben 13 Rund- und Halbtürmen 4 Haupttore. Die 4 Tore und 1 Rundturm sind vollständig erhalten geblieben, während die übrigen Türme ihre Größe und Schönheit eingebüßt haben. Frickenhausen, as an important wine-location, recieved after 1492 a city wall, which took over 100 years to build. They started with the north-town-wall and ended in the south near the Main at the end of the 16. century. The wall was 5m high and had 13 round- and half-towers and 4 gates.
