Welcome to Northfield, VT!

Welcome to Northfield, Vermont! About 10 miles from Vermont's capital (Montpelier), Northfield got its charter in 1781. Named after the town in MA, it covers 38.3 sq. mi. (town website) & had 5,918 people (2020 census). It is in Washington County at the crossroads of VT Routes 12 & 64. Route 12A is an alternate route south to Randolph. Northfield has 5 covered bridges. The Slaughterhouse Road Bridge and the 3 Cox Brook Road bridges are off Route 12 to the north in the Northfield Falls area. The Stony Brook (aka Moseley) Covered Bridge is in the southwestern part of town off Route 12A. Northfield is home to a well-known Vermont product as well as Norwich, the oldest private military college in the United States. In 2020, Northfield was named one of 24 towns to receive grant money to enhance outdoor recreation and foster economic growth. Maybe there will be future geocaching opportunities! It's hard to duly cover the town in 5 AL stages, so only a few drive-by locations are included. Have fun!
