SideTracked - Kalmar-Berga Järnväg (Railway) (KBJ)

This Adventure Lab belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath-taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website. In the late 1800s, entrepreneurs in Kalmar, the county governor and the parishes along the intended line took the initiative to build a railway between Berga and Kalmar. The concession for the line was obtained in 1892 and after problems with financing, Kalmar läns östra järnvägsaktiebolag was formed in 1895, which owned the line. To reduce costs, which became SEK 1,860,000, the line was built narrow-spanned, 891 mm. Construction began in 1896 and the track was opened on December 4, 1897. However, unlike several other narrow-spanned railways, the line was saved by conversion to normal-spanned which was completed in 1978. At each location you get some of the coordinates that lead you to the bonus cache (GC9ZJTJ).
