Bathurst has a number of lovely parks. This LAB cache will show you around 1 of the best in the Central West. Machattie Park was officially opened in December 1890. The park is built on the site of the old Bathurst Gaol, which was demolished in 1888. Features of the park include the Bandstand, the Caretakers Cottage, The Fernery, Lake Spencer and the Munro Drinking Fountain. Some of the exotic trees in the park include the Bunya Pine, Atlas Cedar, Deodar Cedar, Red Beech, English Oak, Pin Oak, Wellingtonia, Chinese Elm and Silver Elm. Bring a Picnic lunch and enjoy this lovely park.
