Welcome to the Rock!

If you walk in the lobby of the local school, you will see a banner saying "Welcome to the Rock". The Marblehead Peninsula and its history have many ties to the limestone that can be found literally in the center of the Peninsula (and also everywhere else "on the rock"). As you complete this adventure, you will explore two buildings built from native limestone, learn about early settlers to the area and see the changes in the quarrying practices over time. When the map shows up for the different locations, take a look at how much of the peninsula is currently quarried or was once quarried (you will see this as barren land on either end of the current quarry with some additional ponds that resulted from quarrying activity)
